Manasota Beach If you follow Manasota Beach Road west to the Gulf, you'll find it! Full restroom facilities and parking are provided at this beach on the north end of Manasota Key!.
Englewood Public Beach Located on Manasota Key at the west end of Beach Road, this public beach offers plentiful parking, restrooms, playground, volley ball, horse shoes, and pavilions.
Stump Pass Beach State Recreation Area Parking and restroom facilities were added this year. Located at the south end of Manasota Key (take a left at the end of Beach Road), Stump Pass beach offers something for everyone. If you're prepared to take a walk, you can find pristine beaches with few other visitors on the Gulf side of the peninsula, or water sports and activity on the Lemon Bay side of the peninsula!
Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande Located on a small island off Placida Rd this is an exclusive community, a small charge is payable for the bridge, remember to ask for a free map of the island. Don't forget to visit the famous Loose Caboose Cafe which is famouse for ice cream. Drive to the end of the island and visit the lighthouse as this is the main chanel into Port Charlotte harbour.
Don Pedro Island State Recreation Area This park can be reached only by boat. Located on the barrier island of Don Pedro, you'll need to travel south of Stump Pass on the I.C.W. just past the "no-wake zone" and make a quick right at the brown State Park sign. About 20 boat slips await you at the docks. A short walk across the island takes you to a huge covered and several barbecue grills. Restrooms and showers are available.
Rotonda West has 6 courses with 108 holes that challenge all skill levels. Four of the golf courses are owned and operated by Rotonda Golf & Country Club - The Hills, The Palms, The Links, and Long Marsh. Pinemoor Golf, Inc. owns and operates two courses - Pinemoor East and Pinemoor West.
Cape Haze Links Golf Course- 941-697-8877. The 18-hole Cape Haze Links course features 4,197 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 63. The course rating is 61.2 and it has a slope rating of 108 on Bermuda grass. Designed by John LaFoy, ASGCA, the Cape Haze Links opened in 1989.
Hills Golf Course - 941-697-2414. This 18-hole course, located in the Oakland Hills section of Rotonda West, features 6,304 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 70.3 and it has a slope rating of 126 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Jim Petrides, the Hills opened in 1989.
Long Marsh Golf Course - 941-698-0918. The 27-hole Long Marsh Golf Club is located in the Long Meadow, White Marsh, and Pine Valley sections of Rotonda West and features 7,120 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.2 and it has a slope rating of 128 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Ted McAnlis, the Long Marsh golf course opened in 1999.
Palms Golf Course - 941-697-8118. The 18-hole Palms course features 6,511 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71 and it has a slope rating of 127 on Bermuda grass. Designed by D.J. DeVictor, the Palms golf course opened in 1989. Located in the Pebble Beach section of Rotonda West.
Pinemoor East Golf Course - 941-697-9492. Located in the Broadmoor section of Rotonda West, the 9-hole Pinemoor East course at the Pinemoor East Golf Club facility features 3,700 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Pete Dye, ASGCA, the Pinemoor East golf course opened in 2004.
Pinemoor West Golf Course - 941-697-7006. The 18-hole Pinemoor course at the Pinemoor West Golf Club facility in Rotonda West features all the hallmarks of Florida golf. Designed by Pete Dye, ASGCA, the Pinemoor golf course opened in 2004. This course is located in the Pinehurst section of Rotonda West.
Both villas overlook a canal where you are allowed to fish, these canals are well stocked with many kinds of fish. Some fishing equipment can be found at the villa but it can be purchased at the local Walmart store along with any license that may be required.
Fishing from one of the many beaches can be great fun, I can recommend Stump Pass as you have the choice to fish from either the beach side or river side.
Many fishing piers can be found within a short drive, toward Port Charlotte you will find a pier beside the Myakka river bridge, even Venice has its own pier.
Sunshine Skyway Fishing Pier The largest fishing pier in the world can be found within a 40 minute drive, fishermen visit the Sunshine Skyway fishing pier to fight with a tremendous variety of fish, from Shark, Tarpon, and Jewfish, to the King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Grouper, and Sea Bass.
Captain Jacks Charter Fishing can be found on the road towards Englewood beach, approx 10 minutes drive. Spend the day fishing on a well eqiped boat with all rods and bait included, the trip out through the islands is breathtaking and don't forget to BBQ the catch on your return. A days fishing costs $50 which includes your licence.
