Sarasota and Fort Myers are 45 minutes away, Tampa 90 minutes, Orlando and Miami a little under 3 hours. If driving down from Orlando we would recomend visiting Busch Gardens at Tampa on the way.

You will be spoilt for choice with the selection of local restaurants, many specialise in locally caught seafood. Visit Farlows, eat on the veranda and watch the dolphins playing in the bay. This restaurant is well known for its seafood, try the fresh crab cakes or snapper fish. Restaurants range in price, you are bound to find one to suit your pocket.
There are many shops close by, and the nearest 24 hour supermarket for groceries is within a 5 minute drive. One of Florida's largest shopping malls is in Port Charlotte which is only a 15 minute drive away.
Drive out to Gasparilla Island and walk around this quiet exclusive community, or visit Englewood State Park and walk out to the end of the key, just be careful not to disturb the Turtle nests which are clearly marked and marvel at the varied wildlife.
You can fly with any number of carriers and have a choice of airports. Sarasota and Fort Myers are 45 minutes away, Tampa 80 minutes, Orlando and Miami a little under 3 hours. For our British clients try British Airways as they fly direct to Tampa, Orlando and Miami several days a week. Virgin and some of the American carriers have direct flights to Orlando and Miami. Indirect flights are cheaper but check flight times as it can extend the total travelling time, however you will be able to go through immigration which saves you time at your arrival airport in Florida. Flights from the UK start from around £300 return, flights in December and January can be really cheap.
Many companys can arrange car hire at a good rate, but check that the Car Hire Company has a desk within arrivals at the airport. Go for the all inclusive offer, as this covers all your insurance needs. You will find driving on the roads around the villa very easy, it is not like driving in Orlando and International Drive.
